It’s a budget-friendly, easy casserole recipe that reheats well and can be a make-ahead meal for leftovers during the week. I used to make this for Sunday supper with the family, or a dish to bring to a potluck, or meal trains.
You can pair this with garlic bread or a simple side salad.
How to Make Amish Country Casserole
Ingredients you’ll need for this recipe

Step-by-Step Guide
1. Preheat the oven to 350°. Spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray and set aside. To a large pan, add the ground beef and onion and cook on a medium to high heat until the beef is fully cooked. (Drain any grease)

2. In a medium sized bowl add the milk, cream of mushroom, garlic salt, onion powder and pepper, stir till it’s fully combined.

3. Add that mixture to the pan with the beef and onions, add the egg noodles and peas and stir. Add everything to the baking dish. Spread around evenly.

4. Cover the top of the baking dish with foil and place in the oven for 25 minutes. Once the 25 minutes are up, remove from the oven and sprinkle the cheese all over top. Place in the oven uncovered for about 5-8 minutes.

Serve & Enjoy!

Important Recipe Notes
- Cook the ground beef fully before adding the sauce mixture so the casserole bakes evenly and has the best texture.
- Be sure to drain any extra grease from the beef to keep the casserole from becoming oily.
- The egg noodles cook right in the casserole while baking, so make sure they are fully mixed into the sauce mixture before placing in the oven.
- Covering the casserole with foil during the first bake helps keep the noodles soft and prevents the top from drying out.
- You can easily customize this recipe by adding vegetables like corn, carrots, or green beans.
- For a little extra flavor, try adding a dash of paprika or Italian seasoning to the beef mixture.
- Leftovers store well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat beautifully for quick lunches or dinners.
