Important Recipe Notes

  • Soften the cream cheese and butter first so they mix smoothly into the sauce and don’t clump while cooking.
  • Don’t overcook the chicken—even in a slow cooker, chicken breast can dry out if left too long past the 6-hour mark.
  • Shred the chicken well before serving so it soaks up all that creamy sauce.
  • Cook the pasta separately and only add it when serving, so it doesn’t get mushy in the crockpot.
  • Stir the sauce before serving to make sure everything is well combined and extra creamy.
  • If you want a thicker sauce, let it sit uncovered for 10–15 minutes after shredding the chicken, or add a little extra cream cheese.
  • To add more flavor, a pinch of black pepper or a sprinkle of parmesan cheese on top makes it even better.
