Important Recipe Notes

  • You can assemble the skewers a few hours before serving. Keep them covered in the fridge to stay fresh.
  • Use 4.5–5 inch bamboo skewers for easy handling. Longer skewers may break; shorter ones can be hard to hold.
  • Any firm cheese works—cheddar, gouda, or Monterey Jack are great choices.
  • Fold or roll the salami slices for a nicer presentation, but simple stacking works too.
  • Chill until ready to serve. These skewers are perfect with crackers, fresh bread, or as part of a larger appetizer spread.
  • If you don’t have gherkin pickles, small cucumber slices or olives work well.
