How to Make Owl-Shaped Fruit Tray

Ingredients you’ll need for this recipe
  • 1/4 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 kiwi
  • 6 pineapple rings in syrup
  • 1 banana
  • 8–10 strawberries
  • 1 orange
  • 1 tangerine
  • 12 pink grapes
  • Fresh mint leaves

Step by Step Guide

1. Take your pineapple rings out of the syrup and pat them dry with a paper towel.

2. Slice them into small pieces and arrange them into an owl-shaped torso on your board. Then slice the banana into rounds and layer them over the pineapple for a little extra texture and softness.

3. Slice two equal-sized circles from the orange and place them where the owl’s eyes would go. Add a single blueberry to each for the pupils. Use a strawberry slice for the beak.

4. Cut the kiwi into cute little paw shapes.

5. Slice the pink grapes into rounds and frame the owl’s eyes for a pop of pink. Add blueberries around the body for extra flair, and strawberry halves for the ears and wing feathers.

6. Slice the tangerine and strawberries, then arrange them like feathered wings, keeping it all symmetrical. Tuck in mint leaves and a few extra berries to make it all look fresh and vibrant.

Serve and Enjoy!

Important Recipe Notes

  • For the freshest taste and best texture, chill all your fruit ahead of time. It’ll make assembling the platter easier and keep everything cool and refreshing.
  • If using canned pineapple or extra-juicy fruits, blot them gently with a paper towel to prevent sogginess on your tray.
  • The owl shape looks best when the wings, eyes, and other features are balanced on both sides—don’t stress about perfection, just aim for “mostly even.”
  • To keep everything looking fresh and vibrant, slice and arrange the fruit no more than an hour before serving.
  • You can swap ingredients based on what’s in season or what your family loves—mango, raspberries, green grapes, or apple slices all work well too!
  • Add a few mini jars of dip (yogurt, chocolate, coconut cream, or honey-peanut butter) to make the platter even more fun for dipping.
  • If you have leftover fruit, turn it into something delicious later—like smoothies, yogurt parfaits, fruity ice cubes, or even bake them into muffins or stir them into oatmeal.
