This recipe has only 3 ingredients. It’s one of my best easy treat recipes for the 4th of July—refreshing, perfect for summer, and loved by both kids and adults.

How to Make Sparkler Fruit Skewers

Ingredients you’ll need for this recipe
  • 1 small watermelon, sliced ½-inch thick
  • 1 small golden melon, sliced ½-inch thick
  • 1 pint fresh blueberries

Step by Step Guide

1. Using a medium-sized cookie cutter, cut out star shapes from the watermelon slices. Then, grab your smaller-sized cookie cutter to cut out even tinier stars from the golden melon slices.

2. Next, grab your bamboo skewers and thread about 8 blueberries onto each one. They’ll be the blue in our red, white, and blue theme.

3. Now, top each skewer with a golden melon star and then a watermelon star to make those fireworks!

Serve and Enjoy!

Pop them in the fridge until you’re ready to serve. They’ll stay nice and cool, and it’ll be that much easier to grab and go when everyone’s ready for a snack.

And there you have it! These skewers are best served the same day, but you can keep them refrigerated until you’re ready to serve. If you’re making them for a party, a little tip is to place a tray over ice to keep them cool and fresh throughout the day.

Whether you’re hosting a family BBQ or just making a fun treat for the kids, these colorful skewers will bring some sparkle to your 4th of July celebration!

Important Recipe Notes

  • Feel free to change the fruit for your preference. Swap the watermelon or golden melon for other red and white fruits like strawberries or apples. For strawberries, you can slice them in half and use a small star-shaped cutter for a fun touch!
  • If you’re looking for bite-sized portions, try using shorter bamboo skewers or even toothpicks for mini versions of the skewers.
  • These skewers are best made with fresh fruit. If you need to make them in advance, store them in an airtight container in the fridge and serve within a day or two for the freshest taste.
  • Serving Tips: These skewers are perfect on their own, but you can also serve them with a side of yogurt or whipped cream for dipping. It adds a fun, creamy contrast to the fresh fruit!
