How to Make Red, White, and Blue Charcuterie Cups

Ingredients you’ll need for this recipe
  • 6 Large crackers
  • 7 oz bag of trail mix
  • 12 slices of salami
  • ½ inch thick slice of watermelon – enough to cut (6) ½ inch stars out of
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 3 strawberries, sliced in half
  • 2 oz monterey jack cheese, slices ½ inch thick – enough to cut (6) ½ inch stars out of

Step by Step Guide

1. Use a small star-shaped cutter to cut 6 stars from the slice of cheese and another 6 from the watermelon. Slice the strawberries in half and set aside.

2. Take a slice of salami, fold it in half, then fold it in half again. Slide it onto a skewer through the center. Repeat with another slice, alternating the fold so it creates a ribbon effect. Repeat this process to make 6 salami skewers.

3. Thread a watermelon star onto another skewer, poking through one of the points so the star shape stays upright. Make 6 watermelon skewers.

4. Place a cracker toward the back of each cup.

5. Add a scoop of trail mix into each of the 6 cups—but save some for later to help hold everything in place.

6. Place one salami skewer on the right side of each cup and one watermelon skewer on the left. Fill in around the skewers with the remaining trail mix to help support them.

7. Add a handful of blueberries to each cup.

8. Nestle one strawberry half (cut side up) on the left side of the cup.

9. Top the blueberries with a cheese star next to the strawberry.

10. Pop the cups in the fridge until you’re ready to serve!

Serve and Enjoy!

And that’s it! These Red, White, and Blue Charcuterie Cups are such a fun and festive way to serve snacks without the mess of a big board. They’re quick to make, totally customizable, and always a hit with both kids and adults. Whether you’re hosting a backyard BBQ or heading to a potluck, these patriotic cups are a great option—no fancy prep required!

Important Recipe Notes:

  • Make-Ahead Friendly: You can prep these cups a few hours in advance—just cover them and store in the fridge until party time.
  • Use What You Have: Don’t stress about exact ingredients—swap in cheddar for Monterey Jack, grapes for strawberries, or use your favorite trail mix.
  • If your star-shaped cookie cutter gets stuck in the cheese or watermelon, try brushing it with a little cooking spray first for easier cutting.
  • Keep Cold: Since they include cheese and fruit, be sure to keep them chilled until serving, especially if you’re outdoors in the summer heat.
