How to Make Valentine’s Day Heart-Shaped Sugar Cookies
Ingredients you’ll need for the cookie dough
Ingredients you’ll need for decorations

Step-by-Step Guide
1. In a bowl, beat the butter, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

2. Add the egg and mix until well combined.

3. Add the flour and mix gently with a spatula until a smooth dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.

4. Wrap the dough tightly in cling film, shape it into a rectangle, and freeze for at least 30 minutes. This makes it easier to roll and cut.

5. Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Use heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut out your cookies.

6. Place the cookies on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, leaving space between them.

7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and bake the cookies for 7–8 minutes.

8. Let the cookies cool for a few minutes on the tray before transferring them to a wire rack.

9. Melt the chocolate, drizzle it over the cookies, and add sprinkles while the chocolate is still soft.

Serve and Enjoy!

Important Recipe Notes
- Make sure the butter is at room temperature for easy mixing.
- If the dough softens while rolling, pop it back in the freezer.
- Watch carefully while baking so the edges don’t brown; cookies should stay pale.
- For cookie thickness, roll evenly (about 1/4 inch) to bake uniformly.
- Use a large egg; add a teaspoon of milk if using a smaller egg.
- Add sprinkles right after drizzling chocolate so they stick.
- For storing, keep in an airtight container for up to a week.
- Dough can be made 48 hours ahead or frozen for up to 2 months.
