I used to make this baked dip for game days, holiday parties, potlucks, family movie nights, or anytime I needed an easy appetizer for a crowd. It works especially well during the fall and winter months, but honestly, people will happily eat this dip year-round.

I love serving them with tortilla chips, buttery crackers, toasted bread slices, or even a fresh veggie tray. It also goes really well alongside other party favorites like buffalo chicken salad or jalapeƱo poppers.

Important Recipe Notes

  • Brown the sausage fully before mixing it with the other ingredients so the dip has the best flavor and texture.
  • Drain off any extra grease from the sausage to keep the dip rich and creamy instead of oily.
  • Let the cream cheese and sour cream sit out for a few minutes before mixing to help everything combine more smoothly.
  • Watch the dip during the last few minutes of baking. The top should be bubbly and lightly golden around the edges.
  • If you like a thinner dip, stir in a splash of milk before baking.
  • For a little kick, use hot sausage or add diced green chiles or jalapeƱos.
  • This dip stays warm nicely in a small slow cooker on the ā€œwarmā€ setting for parties and game days.
  • Make sure to spray the baking dish well so cleanup is easier later.
  • Leftover dip tastes great reheated the next day and can even be spooned over baked potatoes or toasted bread.
